March 1, 2013 wildlife on the road in Arizona
We started out day checking out the Wupatki National Monument area where we found some little bunnies. Got a picture of one here. Next along the road was an allusive beast that we think was a prong but we didn't get a picture or a really good look. Definitely not a deer and we don't think it was an elk. Next critter was a small lizard at a road stop in the Navajo Reservation..see picture below. In the Grand Canyon Park we saw a small squirrel (they have a couple of different types) but he moved faster than us so no picture. Just before leaving we saw a different type of bird. Thus far we have been seeing mostly large Ravens. Next surprise around a bend was cars pulled over taking pictures of an elk. Deb jumped out to snap a few shots too. Later along hwy180 NW of Flagstaff I noticed a snake on the road. I turned around and we went back so Deb could take a few shots of the sunning reptile.
