Wupaki National Monument
The Wapatki tribes built huge rock structures along the river valley almost 100 years ago. The ruins remain in this park and are accessible to visitors. Some are very large communtiy type structures and others are smaller, likely for family groupings rather than entire tribes. Hard to believe that the walls have remained so intact in some areas. Very cool exploring the ruins and noting the sizes of various rooms, entryways, nooks and crannies. On the large sided structure there was even a hole and chute that may have been a washroom facility. Looked to me like it could be anyway. Similar to the facilities seen in old castles in Europe.
