Pictou county
One of our daytrip destinations was Pictou county's artisan market. Big disappointment with that but the trip was enjoyable and the town was quite nice. Docked there is a replica of the Hector
and a museum connected to the ship. We enjoyed a walkabout town and the many old buildings we discovered there. Following that we enjoyed a back road trip and slowly made our way to the cottage with a few stops enroute. One place I recall was one of the many lobster docks. This particular dock had traps stacked up and ready to head out since lobster season was about to start in a few days. There were many separate areas of traps and each was distinct from the others. I guess that means different companies but could be identifying the ship. we enjoyed a picnic lunch while watching the guys work getting the traps ready for use. Not far from that dock we also discovered a beach which appeared to have been created in connection to the dock, either sand from dredging or sand collected because of the causeway beside the ship channel. It seemed to be a popular spot with locals. No pictures or at least I can't find any today.
