Great Grey Owl

Today is Jan 7th 2012. First amazing fact is that we really have not had any snow to speak of in our area. Secondly we have been seeing about this owl on the news. He has been hanging around the Kingsville area since before Christmas. Today was such a nice day that we decided to try to find him in person. We set out with very vague directions and we are such lucky people that we had no trouble at all locating the field where he(or she) was nicely posing for the many admirers. Pretty cool that the bird was not at all disturbed by the fact that so many people were close by watching. Unfortunately it seems that he/she doesn't move alot and we, of little patience, didn't bother to wait the many hours that the pros appeared to wait to get that flying action shot. Some people sounded like they have been waiting with their giant lenses and tripods for weeks. We were simply thrilled to be able to see up close and in person, in the wild such a large bird which is not normally seen in Southern Ontario. We are thinking this is a once in a lifetime viewing event.
